| ¡@¡@ The Soochow University had set up its accounting department when it was still on the mainland. At the time of its re-activation in Taiwan in 1951, this department came into being under the name of business accounting department and was officially named accounting department in 1953. It is one of the oldest accounting departments in this country.
¡@¡@ Since the very beginning, the department has been using the latest textbooks published in Great Britain and the United States of America, and has invited eligible scholars both good in experiences and practice to teach. Consequently, the department always attributes the good teaching basis to these two factors. As being the first to introduce managerial accounting here, it made a great contribution to the development of accounting in this country. It is due to a stringent teaching, graduates of this department have been doing well in all business concerns-an observation shared by everyone in the business world. In 1973, a class for master's degree candidates was established. Now over a thousand students, including those from the night school, are attending school in 16 under-graduate classes and two classes for master's degree candidates. More than five thousand talented men and women have graduated. It is not too much to say that this department has trained the largest number of accountants in this country. |
